UPDATE – Easter and May 2015
Fishergate Postern Tower Open :-
– Easter opening : Sat 4, Sun 5 and Sat 11 April.
We are open 12 noon – 6pm on the latter day, as the Sheriff of York is walking the walls.
– Early May BH: Sat 2, Sun 3 & Mon 4 May.
Saturday opening to be confirmed, as walls will be closed due to the Tour de Yorkshire cycle race.
– Late May BH: Sat 23, Sun 24 & Mon 25 May
Normal open times are 10am to 4pm. Any people who are interested in joining the group of volunteer guides do come and look around.
The Postern Tower will also be open on bank holidays and other occasions throughout the year, including school ½ term holidays, and during the Festival of Ideas when curators from the Yorkshire Museum will be at the tower showing visitors special artefacts found in the Fishergate area.
Over 500 people visited during the recent York Residents Festival, with many local people saying they had always wanted to see inside the tower and enjoyed climbing its spiral staircase to see the rooms and roof space. The Friends of York Walls have recently installed some temporary lighting in the rooms and stairs, which were previously only illuminated by torchlight.

The Friends of York Walls will be holding their Annual General Meeting on Saturday 28th March 2015, starting at 14:00, at St Clements Hall, Nunthorpe Road, York YO23 1BW Tel: 01904 466086. All members are invited to attend.
Notice of any motions for the inclusion in the Agenda of the 2015 Annual General Meeting must be submitted in writing to the The Secretary ( friendsofyorkwalls@gmail.com ) to arrive by 14th March 2015 i.e. at lease 14 days before the meeting.
